Downtown Baptist Church

Senior Adults

Our Senior Adults are engaged in our weekly activities on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights. In addition, they go on regular trips coordinated by Chris Hooke. Here is their upcoming trip:

October 23, 2014, Thursday
U.S. National Arboretum, Washington, DC. and lunch at Tokyo Steak House, Alexandria.
Meet at First Baptist Church at 9:30 am. Return at 2:00 pm. Lunch cost $11.00-$15.00.

Here is another beautiful DC location where we can appreciate God’s handiwork! Take a tram tour which highlights the 446 acres of the U.S. National Arboretum’s gardens, collections and natural areas. Walk through the lovely herb garden and Bonsai gardens. Return to Alexandria where we will have a delicious and entertaining Japanese meal at the Teppanyaki table and watch your food being prepared.

November 20, 2014, Thursday
Mrs. K’s Toll House.
Meet at First Baptist Church at 10:30 am. Confirm with Chris Hooke. Return at 3:00 pm. Approx. cost for lunch: $15.00

Long a favorite of DBC Seniors, Mrs. K’s Toll House Restaurant is situated in what was the last operating tollhouse in Montgomery County. Just like modern day tollgates, travelers would stop and pay a toll before using the privately owned road. The Washington-Colesville-Ashton Turnpike ran from Silver Spring to Ashton along what is now Route 29. The resident farmer, Mr. Allen, accepted the tolls of about 4 cents a horse. See their fine antiques display and beautiful gardens.

December 17, 2014, Wednesday
DBC Senior Christmas Luncheon
at The Ft. Belvoir Officers Club and view/tour of the new hospital. Meet at First Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Return at 2:30. Confirm with Chris Hooke. No charge for lunch.

Enjoy fellowship with one another at the Officers Club’s Potomac Room with it’s uninterrupted view of the Potomac. A delicious all-you-can-eat hot lunch buffet will be served and we will share small gifts near the beautifully decorated tree.
