Not only does the college basketball scene heat up, but at DBC, we all choose a small group for the four Sunday nights in March( 4, 11, 18, 25) and one in April (Palm Sunday) This year, choose by the topic you want or the area you live in—your choice.
Format is simple, sign up for the group you want to attend. Enjoy fellowship, Bible study time and go home refreshed for the week ahead. Here are topics and locations. Dinner is included at all studies except for Love Powered Parenting. Also, note time is different for parents of kids class.
Love Powered Parenting We will focus for 30 days on the six greatest principles of parenting from the words of Jesus. Families will gather together and apply the weekly principles through a learning activity. Dan and Emily Carlton will lead. Time: 4:00-5:00 p.m. at DBC Fellowship Hall. Five Stories from the Bible- All are invited for an in-depth look at one Bible story each week. Larry Zimmerman will lead at the Zauber’s house, 413 Green Street, 22314. 6:00-8:00 p.m.
UnChristian by David Kinnaman & Gabe Lyons. This book has created a lot of discussion over how
16-29 year olds view the church and their faith. The book will provide a springboard for thinking on how to reach a generation that is leaving the church. If you are interested in the next generation - join us. Meets at the Soderbergs, 5627 Cornish Way, 22315 (near Kingstowne). 6:00-8:00 p.m.
The Reason for God by Timothy Keller. Keller has been called the "C.S. Lewis of our times." Keller pastors in New York City and has combined passionate faith with intellectual rigor. We’ll do the first half of the book subtitled, "Belief in an age of Skepticism." Bill Hooke will lead the Bible study portion and discussion at their home, 7813 Lee Avenue, 22308. 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Teens and parents of teens meet at Kevin Bridwell’s house, 204 Commonwealth, 22301. Parents will study The Circle Maker, written by Mark Batterson, pastor of National Community Church in Washington, DC. Let this study challenge you to "pray circles around your biggest dreams and greatest fears." The time will include a few minutes each week of nose-to-nose parent/teen dialogue on a topic. Carolyn will lead parents; Kevin and teens will have their study topic in another part of the house. 6:00-8:00 p.m.
