Teens

Successful teens have parents who love them, a school that is supportive, a healthy set of friends for social development, and a church that helps them to grow spiritually. DBC has wonderful adults who are committed to loving, supporting, and helping a teen grow into adulthood. Activities and studies are aimed at helping teens mature socially, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Summer interns join the staff for the summer and plan all types of events and studies. ("His Hands and Feet" is a teen mission group that helps in the community throughout the year by collecting food for the needy, helping the elderly, assisting in shelters, etc.) Throughout the school year, retreats, fun activities, and group building events take place. In addition, a game room in our basement is provided for pool, ping pong, foosball, and other activities. Jim Wood, our Minister of Students, works specifically with our youth and their families.

Regular Weekly Activities

Sundays

11:00 a.m. - The 7th and 8th graders, led by Amanda and Jeff James, are studying various topics and issues that they choose. They are currently talking about hearing God's voice.  The 9th-12th graders are studying the book of Revelation with David Stone and Nicole Pool.

Wednesdays

6:30 p.m. - Youth Discipleship in Room B, Basement.  We are working on and studying so many things! Jim Wood and David Barrow are leading discussions about various topics.  We will also do a number of service projects, like putting together packages for soldiers deployed overseas or college students away from home, visiting, delivering flowers, and buying birthday presents for homebound members, assisting in the Angel Tree program, visiting organizations in Alexandria City to find out how we can help. We continue to look for ways we can be Jesus' hands and feet in our church and community.

"I love on Wednesday evenings--how we go on mission projects out of the church, such as going to visit people in nursing homes."  - N.C.

"I love everything about this youth group! Wednesday nights gives me an opportunity to do service projects and help out in the community (things that I would never have time for otherwise). Our Sunday mornings are always an adventure. For example, the next few weeks we are doing series called "The Journey." We learn how to talk to other Christians and also non-believers about Christ. When the youth group isn't out learning about God, we are learning about one another as we spend time together doing various activities. Outings to Six Flags and ESPN Zone have been some of the most recent. I love getting to know everyone outside of the church, where we all just have fun." - A.B.
